About Me

Hello!

My name is Vani (pronounced “vah-nee” or /vani/). I am the owner and primary speech pathologist at Summer Hill Speech.

I was 15 years old when I decided I wanted to be a Speech Pathologist. I graduated with my Bachelor's in Applied Science - Speech Pathology from the University of Sydney in 2009. I worked for five years in both the NGO and public sector before deciding to open my own private practice in Summer Hill, providing speech therapy for kids and speech therapy for adults across Sydney.

Summer Hill Speech opened in February 2015, and grew faster than I could have ever imagined. The services I provide now include medico-legal reports and clinical supervision to other Speech Pathologists, in addition to a high-quality Speech Pathology service for children and adolescents.

Something unique about what I offer is Animal Assisted Therapy, where I work with some clients with the assistance of my friendly labradoodle, Poppy - you can read more about her here

I practise evidence-based Speech Language Pathology, using the best research and clinical knowledge we have available to us. You can find out more about my approach here

I am always looking for new ways to expand my experience and knowledge and am constantly attending training, courses and conferences to stay up-to-date with the latest research and best industry practices.

In 2022, I started a Higher Degree by Research at Griffith University. My research involves looking at the personal narrative skills of school-age children, and what this tells us about children who have language difficulties. I look forward to sharing my findings over time, and to using what I learn to enhance the experience of my clients.
