Medico-legal assessments

 

A one-time written report where I use my expertise to assess and evaluate an individual’s current condition and prognosis for legal purposes. I include reference to relevant research literature to underpin my conclusions.

 

Whole-class and Stage programs for schools

 

These programs provide language and literacy intervention to support language development In the classroom.. Oral language skills impact written language skills, and the Simple View of Reading also supports the perspective of developing children’s vocabulary skills and phonological awareness abilities in order to improve their reading comprehension.There is on average,2 children in every classroom with a developmental language disorder, and perhaps other students with diagnoses such as autism or ADHD. Classrooms can therefore benefit from a strengths-based learning approach to developing the word/vocabulary, sentence/syntax or text/discourse level abilities of their students. I use existing research literature, as well as my own experiences as a practising Speech Pathologist who has worked in school settings for over a decade, to design individualised programs that are specific to your school’s needs. I also provide additional in-services to teachers to support their understanding of the techniques and activities I use, and their ability to implement these. Professional Development for teams

 

Staff training for Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and schools. I provide 1, 2 and 3 hour workshops on topics such as: 

• Receptive and expressive language difficulties 

• Social communication skills for children 

• Supporting students with communication difficulties 

• Language skills of school age students 

• Understanding children with speech sound disorders 

• Understanding Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

• Differential diagnosis for speech, language or other communication disorders
